Customer Solution Engineer - Major Projects

About the role

The Customer Solution Engineer – Major Projects works within KONE’s early‑engagement team to translate complex customer requirements into complete elevator, escalator and door solutions. The role bridges sales, engineering and supply functions to deliver non‑standard tender proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales to define optimal technical solutions for non‑standard projects, selecting appropriate KONE product platforms and third‑party offerings.
• Develop cost estimates, including integration, material, engineering and installation costs, coordinating with Supply Line and project management.
• Create and coordinate detailed specifications, perform energy calculations and traffic analyses, and verify technical feasibility.
• Manage lead‑time and availability planning by liaising with supply chain and local sourcing partners.
• Ensure installability and maintainability of solutions, accounting for non‑standard installation methods and lifecycle requirements.
• Verify compliance with local codes, safety regulations, environmental standards and KONE engineering policies.
• Produce full shop layout drawings, installation layouts, and technical submittal documentation.
• Handle SAP milestone management, material sample ordering, and coordinate variation orders and change requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in the elevator industry.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in elevator business operations, including new construction and modernization projects.
• Proven ability to translate customer needs into technical specifications and costed solutions.
• Strong understanding of local building codes, safety regulations and KONE product lifecycle requirements.
