Data Center Engineer

About the role

A skilled Data Center Engineer is sought for an on-site position in Dubai, UAE, supporting client data centers across Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The role covers physical installation, configuration, maintenance and vendor coordination of server and storage hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain server and storage hardware in client data centers
• Run regular system health checks and keep logs and reports
• Coordinate with vendors for technical support and on-site field engineer visits, escorting them during on-site work
• Replace server components (CRUs) for HP, Dell and Oracle systems
• Manage data center migrations: safely remove, transport and reinstall hardware
• Submit or retrieve hardware and equipment from the warehouse on client request
• Handle magnetic tape-based backup activities
• Follow up on warranty replacements and RMA logistics
• Work with the internal facilities (EM) team on infrastructure tasks and keep high-quality documentation
• Additional duties: process hardware shutdowns and decommissioning, raise service tickets in systems such as HCM and Maximo, support data erasure and degaussing, maintain inventory and asset tracking, and support audits and physical inventory checks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Engineering or a related field, or a 3-year diploma in Computer/IT Engineering
• 2 to 7 years of hands-on experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure support
• Preferred: MCSE certification; required: server hardware certification
• Experience with server brands such as HP, Dell, Oracle, Huawei and Cisco
• Familiarity with fiber and copper cabling standards
• Good knowledge of the UAE road network and locations for site visits
