Data Modeler - Lakehouse & Knowledge Graphs

About the role

A recruiter is looking for a Data Modeler in Abu Dhabi to design scalable data models and semantic layers for a Lakehouse architecture. The role also covers building knowledge graphs, defining ontologies and enabling advanced data discovery and interoperability across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Design conceptual, logical and physical data models for a Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) and apply dimensional modeling for analytical layers.
• Apply Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD2) and historical tracking, and define naming conventions, metadata standards and model documentation.
• Design and implement a semantic layer for business-friendly access and self-service analytics, using advanced AI tooling, and develop ontologies and taxonomies.
• Build and maintain knowledge graphs representing entity relationships, integrating them with Lakehouse metadata and lineage tools such as OpenMetadata.
• Work with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Quality teams so models fit Lakehouse principles, are implemented in Glue and Iceberg tables, and include validation rules.
• Support schema evolution, partitioning and performance optimization, and create reusable modeling templates for Data Factory squads.

Required profile

• Strong experience in data modeling for Lakehouse or data warehouse environments.
• Proficiency in semantic layer design, ontologies and knowledge graph development.
• Preferred: 7+ years in data modeling or data architecture roles; experience in semantic technologies, knowledge graphs and financial services is a strong plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive migration targets.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AWS Glue, Apache Iceberg and Medallion architecture; OpenMetadata preferred.
• Data modeling tools such as ERwin or PowerDesigner.
• Semantic layer tools such as Zaimler or AtScale.
• Knowledge graph frameworks such as RDF, OWL or Neo4j.
• Jira and agile way of working.
