Data Science Lecturer

About the role

The Lecturer delivers high-quality Data Science education to students through lectures, discussions, case studies and practical applications. The role covers designing and implementing lesson plans, preparing teaching materials, assessing student performance and supporting their academic and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver course materials (lectures, assignments, case studies, exams) aligned with the curriculum, and regularly update content to reflect current industry standards.
• Maintain classroom discipline and use interactive methods such as real-world case studies, simulations, discussions, workshops and fieldwork.
• Assess students through exams, assignments and quizzes, giving constructive feedback.
• Stay up to date on data science algorithms, tools (Python, R, SQL), machine learning frameworks and big data technologies, and integrate them into teaching.
• Provide extra academic support, resources and mentorship to students.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessments, academic reviews and accreditation documentation, and take part in departmental meetings and quality assurance audits.

Required profile

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related field.
• Proven university-level teaching experience and practical data science experience with real-world datasets.
• Experience designing lesson plans, assessing students and developing curricula aligned with accreditation standards.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills; proactive about continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Core data science concepts: statistical analysis, machine learning, data modeling and data visualization.
• Programming in Python, R and SQL; familiarity with libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Knowledge of big data technologies and cloud platforms (Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
