Day Technician - Finishing (Steel Industry)

About the role

The Day Technician – Finishing is responsible for daily mechanical maintenance activities within the finishing section of a steel plant. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety and optimal performance through preventive and corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily mechanical maintenance and preventive tasks on finishing mill equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect machinery for vibration, leakage, overheating, misalignment or abnormal noise.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, assemble and replace mechanical components such as gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, rollers and guides.
• Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, shears, straightening machines, cooling beds, roller tables, transfer systems and material‑handling equipment.
• Perform alignment, leveling, lubrication and mechanical adjustments.
• Support planned shutdowns, major overhauls, equipment modifications and root‑cause analysis.
• Use mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance instructions for all repairs.
• Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation and Operations teams and record all maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the steel industry.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Ability to work safely following SOPs, PTW, LOTO and PPE requirements.
