About the role

The American University in the Emirates is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Dean of the College of Health Sciences. The Dean will guide the college’s strategic direction, ensure academic excellence, and strengthen partnerships with healthcare, government, and industry stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with national, regional, and international health‑care trends.
• Oversee curriculum development, program delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Lead accreditation processes and maintain compliance with relevant bodies.
• Foster research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the college.
• Manage the college’s budget, fundraising initiatives, and grant acquisition efforts.
• Supervise Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, and College Coordinators.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Allied Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of academic leadership experience at the associate‑dean level or higher in an accredited university.
• Strong record of teaching, research, and service in health sciences.
• Demonstrated engagement with healthcare institutions, regulatory bodies, and government agencies.
• Proven experience in strategic planning, program development, accreditation, and faculty leadership.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with international and professional accreditation bodies (e.g., CAA, WFME, CCNE, ACEN).
• Knowledge of emerging trends in healthcare education, clinical training, digital health, and interdisciplinary learning.
• Expertise in fundraising, grant acquisition, and budget management.
• Ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and research‑driven academic environment.
