Debug & Repair Technician – PCBA

About the role

As a Debug & Repair Technician – PCBA at Eaton, you will diagnose and repair defective printed circuit board assemblies to restore full functionality, supporting production lines and ensuring product reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Use test and measurement tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, programmers, thermal cameras, and debug software to identify component‑level and circuit‑level issues.
• Replace, rework, or re‑solder defective components using soldering, desoldering, hot‑air, and rework stations while protecting PCB integrity.
• Read and interpret schematics, layout drawings, BOMs, test reports, and engineering instructions to guide repairs.
• Document all repair actions, root‑cause findings, and verification results for full traceability.
• Support production by providing fast failure feedback, identifying recurring defect patterns, and escalating systemic issues.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Test Engineering to address top defects and improve test robustness.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA debugging, fault analysis, and repair.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and communicate findings clearly.

Required skills

• Practical experience with diagnostic tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, programmer, thermal camera).
• Proficiency in soldering, desoldering, hot‑air rework, and IPC repair standards.
• Strong understanding of electronic circuits, components, and PCBA layouts.
• Knowledge of ESD safety procedures and handling of moisture‑sensitive devices.
