Dental Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join the dental department of American Hospital Dubai. The role involves supporting dentists in a fast‑paced clinical environment, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready, sterile and well‑managed while delivering patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the dentist chair‑side during all dental procedures.
• Sterilize, prepare and maintain dental instruments, treatment supplies and equipment.
• Control inventory of dental materials and ensure timely replenishment.
• Expose and develop dental radiographs and perform delegated procedures according to hospital policy.
• Maintain the dental work area and department equipment in compliance with safety and infection‑control standards.
• Perform patient assessments, document clinical information in the medical record and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
• Handle narcotic and controlled substances safely and complete required documentation.
• Participate in JCIA mandatory education, life‑support courses and unit quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to provide age‑specific, patient‑centered care using the nursing process.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to recognise and anticipate patient needs.
• Commitment to maintaining up‑to‑date clinical competencies and mandatory education.
• Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and follow hospital policies.
