Deputy Store Manager – Sports Retail

About the role

The Deputy Store Manager will support the Store Manager in driving sales and ensuring smooth store operations for the sports division. This role combines leadership of the team with hands‑on responsibility for merchandising, inventory, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate store targets, motivate the team and achieve financial objectives.
• Maintain loss‑prevention standards, oversee cash handling and fraud controls.
• Supervise POS activities, including sales transactions, returns, refunds and customer data collection.
• Audit store administration, conduct stock counts and spot checks.
• Handle customer complaints, provide corrective actions and gather feedback.
• Analyse sales reports, monitor brand performance and propose actions to increase profitability.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards for windows and in‑store displays.
• Oversee inventory management, stock movement, ageing and space optimisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• 3‑4 years of retail experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop store personnel.
• Strong customer orientation and product/category knowledge.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office and related tools.
• Experience in inventory management processes.
