Design Engineer – Automotive

About the role

Black Pearl Consult is seeking a Design Engineer to join an automotive engineering team in Dubai. The role covers designing and developing automotive parts and accessories with a focus on performance, manufacturability and aesthetics, working with cross-functional teams and external partners to move new products from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle design and development of automotive components, producing design concepts, detailed drawings and engineering documentation with CAD tools.
• Redesign existing products to improve durability, functionality, cost-efficiency and visual appeal.
• Carry out engineering analyses including feasibility studies, design reviews, risk assessments and cost evaluations, ensuring designs fit manufacturability, timelines and cost targets.
• Select materials that meet performance and durability needs, including sustainable or innovative options, and ensure compatibility with manufacturing processes.
• Develop prototypes, run tests, analyse test data and prepare engineering test reports; revise designs where needed.
• Ensure designs meet automotive industry standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality guidelines, and support audits, certification and design validation.
• Work with suppliers, technical partners and vendors, and with R&D, procurement and production teams.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and stay current with automotive technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 3-5 years of experience in automotive product engineering.
• Hands-on experience with OEM standards and requirements (required).
• Strong background in designing automotive components or accessories.
• Experience planning, executing and monitoring engineering projects, meeting deadlines and managing several design tasks at once.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.

• Fusion 360 and Creo PTC (optional: NX, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS)
• Engineering analysis software used for feasibility, testing and evaluation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
