Design Engineer – Primary (Substation Projects)

About the role

The Design Engineer (Primary) will lead primary engineering activities for substation projects, preparing layouts, reviewing drawings and supporting BIM 3D model development. Reporting to the Design Lead, the role ensures technical compliance and coordination across disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve drawings produced by draftsmen in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with site execution and cluster teams for design clarifications.
• Conduct interdisciplinary checks (civil, structural, MEP, instrumentation) to obtain design concurrence.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and quality system documentation.
• Review vendor offers, prepare pre‑tender engineering, estimate BOM and evaluate offers.
• Perform design calculations for busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, earthing conductors, short‑circuit forces, sag tension, etc.
• Develop and validate SLDs, layout, earthing, cable routing, lighting, lightning protection, and cable tray routing.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 3–7 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
• Strong knowledge of national and international codes and standards.
• Understanding of interdisciplinary design aspects (civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation).
