Director - Communications

About the role

Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, a global icon of luxury hospitality undergoing a restoration led by designer Tristan Auer, is looking for a Director of Communications. The role defines the property's communications strategy around its reopening, tells the story of its hospitality through editorial content, and advises senior leaders on media and crisis matters.

Key responsibilities

• Define the communications strategy for the reopening, aligned with brand and commercial ambitions.
• Create storytelling and editorial content across public relations, digital and social media channels.
• Cultivate relationships with journalists, editors and key opinion leaders locally, regionally and internationally.
• Curate brand partnerships and creator collaborations with art, culture and luxury sectors.
• Advise senior leaders, prepare spokespeople and guide sensitive and crisis communications.
• Direct communications agencies, budgets and campaign delivery in line with brand and governance requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing or a related field; postgraduate study or professional accreditation preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive communications, PR or journalism experience, including leadership in luxury hospitality, travel or premium brands; iconic property, opening or repositioning experience desirable.
• Proven media relationships and experience advising executives, preparing spokespeople and leading agencies, partners, teams and budgets.

Required skills

• Exceptional English and refined editorial judgement.
• Luxury storytelling and presentation skills.
• Additional languages and knowledge of Middle Eastern art and culture desirable.
