Director - Interior Design

About the role

Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, is looking for a Director of Interior Design in Dubai. The role develops and implements overall interior design concepts, manages design processes and consultants, and ensures the success of Al-Futtaim Real Estate projects from pre-concept design through to construction documentation. It provides creative and technical leadership to maintain and improve interior design standards in new and existing properties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the interior design function and projects from concept development to completion, managing multiple projects with a coherent design process.
• Develop interior design brand standards and guidelines in line with Al-Futtaim Private Properties' vision.
• Create guidelines, design and technical standards, and FF&E and OS&E specifications for the family.
• Ensure layouts, detailed drawings and FF&E specifications meet unified schemes according to the program.
• Maintain knowledge of trends in materials and techniques, assess the market, set designer qualification criteria and recommend selections.
• Define design scope, help manage design agreements and contracts, control design costs, and verify design documentation for each stage.
• Lead on-site observations during construction to check compliance with plans and the final product against initial requests.
• Represent Al-Futtaim Real Estate in meetings reviewing proposals, contracts and mock-ups, and monitor departmental KPIs while motivating interior design teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a relevant subject.
• 10+ years of experience in high-end or large-scale residential and hospitality projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
• Strong knowledge of applicable standards, regulations and procedures.

Required skills

• Concept design and mood board creation.
• Team management and leadership, and coordination with designers and stakeholders.
• Managing cost, time and quality implications of design changes.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel) and MS Project.
