Director of Architecture – Retail & Hospitality

About the role

AECOM is seeking a visionary Director of Architecture to lead retail and hospitality projects across the United Arab Emirates. Based in Dubai, you will shape design strategy, drive innovation, and ensure delivery excellence for high‑profile client programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee practice and project management, including design direction, budget control and bid strategy.
• Guide conceptual design development, ensuring quality, innovation and alignment with client objectives.
• Collaborate with Architecture + Interiors leadership to set technical direction and support long‑term strategic planning.
• Coordinate design, technical and business development teams for integrated project outcomes.
• Engage directly with clients to translate vision into context‑responsive designs and lead presentation sessions.
• Monitor project timelines, milestones and financial performance to guarantee on‑time, on‑budget delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in architectural design, preferably within retail and hospitality sectors.
• Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and large‑scale projects.
• Strong understanding of international building codes and sustainable design practices.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and stakeholder presentations.
