Director of Litigation

About the role

The Director of Litigation oversees all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution across the company's global operations. The role suits a seasoned legal professional with strong commercial acumen and experience managing multi-jurisdictional matters, working closely with senior leadership, external counsel and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage litigation and dispute resolution matters across jurisdictions, including civil, commercial, regulatory and employment cases.
• Act as the main point of contact for external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effective, timely and strategic handling of litigation.
• Advise the executive team and board on litigation strategy, legal risk and case developments.
• Oversee pre-litigation dispute resolution, negotiations, settlements and mediation.
• Work with internal legal, compliance, HR and finance teams to gather documentation and prepare for proceedings.
• Monitor and assess legal risks arising from operations, contracts or regulatory issues.
• Maintain internal litigation tracking systems and report developments to senior stakeholders.
• Align litigation strategy with the group's business and regulatory objectives, and develop internal policies and training to reduce litigation risk.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK (or equivalent international qualification).
• 15+ years of post-qualification experience, focused on litigation and dispute resolution.
• In-house experience in a multinational company, preferably in telecoms, tech or regulated industries.
• Proven track record managing complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation and regulatory disputes.
