Director of Shipping & Logistics

About the role

The Director of Shipping & Logistics leads Emirates Steel's end‑to‑end shipping and logistics operations, ensuring safe, compliant, timely and cost‑effective movement of raw materials and finished goods across domestic and international markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's shipping and logistics strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Build a resilient logistics operating model supporting both domestic and export operations.
• Ensure uninterrupted inbound supply of raw materials and timely dispatch of finished products.
• Optimize yard operations, dispatch planning and transportation capacity.
• Design transportation sourcing and contracting strategies and lead negotiations with carriers, shipping lines and freight forwarders.
• Monitor freight costs, transport performance and market competitiveness.
• Oversee port and vessel operations, managing relationships with port authorities, terminal operators and vessel agents.
• Maintain accurate export and shipping documentation and ensure full customs and trade compliance.
• Establish logistics governance, reporting and KPI dashboards covering cost, OTIF, claims and provider performance.
• Participate in S&OP planning and provide logistics risk analysis and capacity recommendations.
• Own the Shipping & Logistics budget and deliver measurable cost savings.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead end‑to‑end shipping and logistics operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing inbound raw material supply and outbound product dispatch.
• Strong knowledge of trade compliance, customs regulations and shipping documentation.
• Demonstrated capability in budgeting, cost control and vendor performance management.
