Director, Wholesale Islamic Banking – Corporate & Investment

About the role

The Director, Wholesale Islamic Banking will lead the growth of the Islamic corporate portfolio within Mashreq's Corporate & Investment Banking Group. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic market expansion with hands‑on credit risk management across the CIBG and IBG footprints.

Key responsibilities

• Grow the existing Islamic corporate book both organically (existing clients) and inorganically (new-to-bank clients).
• Maximise market share and maintain a competitive edge among Islamic entities across the CIBG and IBG footprint.
• Play an active role in deal origination, coordinating between client relationship teams and product teams.
• Maximise utilisation of approved Islamic credit limits by facilitating relationship teams.
• Conduct credit risk assessments together with Relationship Managers, meet customers, prepare Credit Proposals, and liaise with Wholesale Risk Management and the Compliance Unit to resolve risk and compliance queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Islamic corporate banking and credit risk assessment.
• Ability to work closely with Relationship Managers and product partners.
• Strong client‑facing skills, including meeting customers and preparing credit proposals.
• Experience coordinating deal origination and managing compliance and risk processes.
