Electrical Engineer – 220kV GIS Commissioning & Energization

About the role

We are looking for a competent Electrical Engineer to lead the commissioning and energisation of 220 kV GIS substations in the UAE. The role involves supervising installation, testing and ensuring compliance with TRANSCO safety rules.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise GIS installation, assembly, gas filling, vacuuming and quality inspections.
• Conduct schematic checks, functional testing, CT/VT, breaker and busbar testing.
• Perform HV, dielectric and partial‑discharge tests and verify protection circuits.
• Coordinate shutdowns, interconnection works and pre‑energisation inspections.
• Monitor phase synchronisation, voltage stability and load energisation during commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in 220 kV GIS and power‑transformer commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of HV testing, protection systems and TRANSCO safety rules.
• Excellent technical reporting and coordination abilities.
