Electrical Engineer (OHL / Utilities) - PMC Supervision

About the role

A global project supervision consultancy client needs several experienced Consultant Electrical Engineers to join its team in Abu Dhabi on a 3-month contract, hired as an outsource by J10 Consulting. The engineers will supervise high-voltage / OHL / dry utilities works across the Emirate, acting as supervision consultants. Immediate joining is possible.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and review, monitor, inspect and supervise all electrical works, ensuring the Contractor's works follow the contract.
• Manage and coordinate the Engineer's staff, including assistants and inspectors.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors on the accuracy and sequencing of works, and review their electrical installation proposals with other disciplines.
• Advise on the placement and routing of electrical services to meet other discipline requirements.
• Coordinate design issues with the Head Office Electrical Engineers and electrical works inspections with electrical inspectors.
• Carry out periodic site inspections of electrical systems and coordinate setting out and layout of final-fix electrical elements with the architect.
• Monitor progress against the programme, witness prescribed tests for testing and commissioning, and schedule snagging and de-snagging inspections.
• Attend weekly progress, HSE, QA/QC and coordination meetings, and report on safety and quality issues.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and interim valuations for compliance with contracts, specifications and statutory requirements, and monitor site observation notes and NCRs.
• Check and verify as-built drawings and O&M manuals where applicable.

Required profile

• BSc minimum in Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a recognised supervision or PMC consultancy.
• Mandatory experience on Overhead Lines (OHL) or dry utilities projects; TAQA approval is highly advantageous.
• Proven background as a supervision consultant in the UAE, with a track record with recognised supervision consultants or PMC companies.

Required skills

• Strong experience reviewing designs and submittals and coordinating within the built environment.
• In-depth knowledge of local design standards and local authorities' technical and legal requirements.
• Strong communication, stakeholder and client management skills in a client-facing role.
