Electrical Engineer – Switchgear Design

About the role

Vertiv is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design and application of medium voltage switchgear, ensuring compliance with IEC standards and delivering projects on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and interlocking logic for MV switchgear (AIS/GIS up to 36kV).
• Perform busbar sizing, short‑circuit withstand calculations, thermal analysis, and ensure IEC 62271 series compliance.
• Select and program numerical protection relays, calculate settings, develop trip matrices, and support protection coordination studies using ETAP or DigSILENT.
• Review customer specifications, produce compliance statements, and provide technical support during FAT and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in MV switchgear design and protection engineering.
• Strong analytical skills with high engineering accuracy and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEC 62271 and IEC 60255 standards.
• Hands‑on experience with numerical relay programming (ABB, Siemens, Schneider or equivalent).
• Proficiency in protection coordination studies (ETAP, DigSILENT preferred).
• Competence in AutoCAD, EPLAN or equivalent drafting tools.
