Electrical Technician – Ex‑Inspector (Hazardous Area)

About the role

Proserv is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to perform installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of Ex‑certified equipment in hazardous areas. The role supports critical infrastructure across the energy sector and ensures compliance with IEC standards.

Key responsibilities

• Select, install, inspect, test and maintain Ex‑certified electrical equipment for lighting, small power, heat tracing, telecommunications, fire & gas and instrumentation.
• Produce individual Ex‑inspection reports, compile equipment registers and defect lists, and report minor and critical defects.
• Gather daily progress reports, meet equipment inspection targets, and ensure work follows client Permit to Work (PTW) and safety protocols.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide field activities accurately.
• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety discussions, and submit approved timesheets on time.

Required profile

• CompEx certified electrician with at least 5 years of experience in hazardous‑area electrical work.
• Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proven ability to work with IEC 60079‑14, IEC 60079‑17 and related IEC‑60079 series standards.
• Experience preparing inspection reports and maintaining equipment registers.
