Electronic Technician

About the role

The Electronic Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying a range of electronic systems and components, including computers, laser scanners, RFID readers, CCTV/traffic cameras, UPS units, access-control devices and industrial control equipment. The role combines hands-on hardware work with the application of electronics theory, engineering mathematics and basic programming to ensure reliable operation and preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals to diagnose faults.
• Test, calibrate, maintain and repair electronic units using standard tools, soldering equipment and diagnostic software.
• Replace defective components and perform emergency repairs on roadside gantry systems.
• Document work through reports, logs and test records, and assist engineers with data collection and basic circuitry design.
• Research parts, tools and suppliers while adhering to health-and-safety standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electronics, Digital Equipment or PLC Systems.
• 1–2 years of experience with electronic control systems and industrial equipment.
• UAE driving licence preferred.
• Physical ability to perform field work, lift up to 50 lb and work in varied environments.

Required skills

• Electronics testing, troubleshooting and calibration techniques.
• Soldering and component replacement.
• Proficiency with CAD, Linux, Windows and MS-DOS environments.
• Knowledge of networking equipment (routers, switches) and communication protocols.
• Familiarity with UPS, PLC, RFID, CCTV and access-control hardware.
