Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced

About the role

The Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced provides critical pre‑hospital care to patients in emergency situations. Working with Speciality Hospital Abu Dhabi, you will respond to emergency calls, deliver both basic and advanced life support, and ensure safe transport to medical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, drive to the scene, and provide basic and advanced life support.
• Perform patient assessment, including ECG interpretation and vital sign monitoring.
• Rescue and extricate victims using appropriate medical and rescue techniques.
• Communicate with medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions and arrange patient reception.
• Manage critically injured or ill patients with AED/defibrillator use, CPR, bleeding control, shock management, and stabilization.
• Perform peripheral intravenous cannulation and administer IV medications (excluding narcotics), crystalloid solutions, glucagon, activated charcoal, oral glucose, oxygen, epinephrine, aspirin, and sub‑lingual nitroglycerin.
• Continuously assess patients en route, providing additional care as directed by medical control.
• Maintain and restock ambulance, medical, and communication equipment, following disinfecting protocols.
• Drive the ambulance safely, use GPS navigation, and adhere to traffic regulations to achieve the shortest response time.

Required profile

• Ability to perform peripheral intravenous cannulation and administer IV medications.
• Capability to operate AED/defibrillator, perform CPR, and manage bleeding and shock.
• Proficiency in ECG interpretation and patient assessment.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with medical personnel, dispatch, police, and fire services.
• Competence in safe ambulance operation, GPS navigation, and radio communication.
