Engineer - Maintenance (Elevators & Escalators)

About the role

This role covers maintenance and technical support for multibrand elevators and escalators, including breakdowns, repairs, modernization and modification projects, and the commercial side of service contracts. It also involves acting as technical point of contact for customers and supporting the service manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for multibrand elevators and escalators, attend major breakdowns and complex failures, and carry out troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and root cause analysis.
• Coordinate and monitor major repair and corrective maintenance, prepare technical recommendations and material requirements, and verify completed repairs.
• Lead elevator modernization and modification projects: review site conditions and drawings, prepare execution plans, supervise installation, testing, commissioning and handover, and prepare technical reports.
• Act as technical point of contact for customers, explain technical issues and recommendations, handle complaints and give regular updates on breakdowns and projects.
• Develop multibrand troubleshooting capability across controllers, drives, motors, door operators, safety and control systems, and support obsolete equipment assessment.
• Prepare breakdown, RCA, repair and modernization reports, failure histories and technical feedback to field teams; support quotations and technical scopes.
• Guide technicians and supervisors, run troubleshooting demonstrations and training, and develop troubleshooting procedures and checklists.
• Ensure all work follows company HSE procedures, risk assessments, permits and isolation procedures, and supports TPI/authority inspections.
• Support the Service Manager with technical inputs for quotations, material estimation, manpower planning and project timelines, and submit invoices and follow up payments within 30 days.
• Manage annual maintenance contracts, prepare project budgets/costing sheets, and introduce new lift controller brands such as Thyssen, Koney, Sigma, Schindler, Hyundai, Enova-SJEC, AL Futaim, Toshiba and others.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in software programming and troubleshooting of traction and hydraulic lift drives and controllers, including Schindler (Miconic V, TX, X), Mitsubishi (VFDL, VFEL), Arcs Robotic, GTS Asansor, Hidral, GMV, Bucher, ASONG and SJEC Monarch.
• Previous roles include AGESMT (Service Engineer, 2020-present), SESMT (Testing & Commissioning Engineer, 2005-2016), Schindler Vietnam Technical Supporter (1998-2000) and Schindler Philippines Project Engineer (1991-1998).

Required skills

• Lift software programming and troubleshooting of lift drives and controllers.
• Reading and analysing lift skeletal wiring diagrams.
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and communication skills.
• Familiarity with SAP, Xpedeon, Oracle, Farnek, vendor cafe portals and software programming.
