Engineering Manager – Forward Deployed Engineering Infrastructure (North America)

About the role

Cohere is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) Infrastructure team for the North America region. This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will guide a group of engineers deploying Cohere’s AI platform into customer environments, ensuring successful implementation and ongoing performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Drive end‑to‑end deployment of Cohere’s North platform in private‑cloud and on‑premises settings.
• Own customer success from technical implementation through delivery.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Sales to shape enterprise AI delivery.
• Guide the team on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and enterprise‑grade deployments.
• Optimize performance for OpenSearch, databases, and other Kubernetes services.
• Define scaling guidelines for GPU and CPU resources and build scalable processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated leadership.
• Hands‑on experience deploying enterprise software at scale.
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• High agency and a do‑er mentality.
• Excellent English communication skills.
