English Second in Charge – Senior School (Dubai Hills)

About the role

GEMS Wellington, Dubai Hills is seeking an outstanding English Second in Charge to join the Senior School from January 2027. This middle‑leadership position works closely with the Head of English to drive high standards of teaching, learning and curriculum delivery across Key Stages 3‑5.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic and operational leadership of the English department.
• Lead curriculum development, assessment design and data‑analysis initiatives.
• Oversee intervention programmes and quality‑assurance processes.
• Mentor and develop teaching staff, modelling exemplary classroom practice.
• Contribute to school‑wide professional learning programmes and networks.

Required profile

• Excellent subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment and data analysis.
• Proven ability to drive improvement in pupil progress and outcomes.
• Commitment to the school’s core values of Ambition, Responsibility and Courage.
• Experience in senior‑school teaching and middle‑leadership roles.
