Assistant Manager Education – Lost World Aquarium

About the role

The Assistant Manager Education leads the Lost Chambers Aquarium Marine Educator team, delivering conservation education programmes to guests and ensuring high‑quality, engaging experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Marine Educator team, maintaining high standards for educational activities.
• Interact with guests and colleagues, sharing marine life and conservation information.
• Deliver and delegate programmes for groups of all sizes, managing bookings and resources.
• Coach and develop staff on marine knowledge, conservation, and interpretation methods.
• Coordinate with Admissions, Dive, Sales, PR and Marketing teams on programmes and tours.
• Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, ordering supplies, event planning and reporting.
• Support the Manager, Conservation and Education in programme development and evaluation aligned with AZA standards.
• Conduct performance assessments, ensure SOPs are current, and maintain a safe, animal‑welfare‑compliant environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, Zoology, Marine Science, Communication or related field (desirable).
• At least 2 years supervisory experience.
• Previous experience in education and guest experience within a zoo, aquarium or museum.
• Experience developing and implementing educational programmes and conducting evaluations.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and customer‑focus skills.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
