English Social Studies Teacher

About the role

ADNOC Schools, a Massachusetts State Curriculum school group within the Aldar family, is looking for an English Social Studies Teacher for its Ruwais campus in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi. The position starts immediately. ADNOC Schools offers the US High School Diploma and aims to attract teachers who share the school's core values and understand the values of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Create a learning climate, set clear objectives, challenging tasks and expectations, and build on prior attainment
• Identify SEN or very able students and meet their needs through differentiation
• Plan lessons using performance data and key indicators, and mark work at least once every two weeks
• Maintain discipline under the Behaviour for Learning Policy and encourage punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework
• Use varied teaching strategies, effective questioning, and learning resources including ICT
• Assess students regularly, record progress, and assess as requested by examination bodies
• Prepare reports for parents and take part in subject development, keeping curriculum plans up to date
• Keep subject knowledge current through CPD and attend professional development workshops
• Undertake additional duties asked by the Principal or Vice Principal

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, History or a related subject, with PGCE or another teacher qualification and at least 2 years of teaching experience
• Experience with students for whom English is an additional language
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services or Police check
• Commitment to an enrichment programme and recent extra-curricular involvement
