Environmental Technician (Marine Focus)

About the role

WKC Spatial is looking for an experienced Marine Environmental Technician to join its UAE team. The role supports marine ecological services, conducting field surveys, collecting water and sediment samples, and analysing biodiversity data for a range of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist ecologists with benthic habitat identification and habitat health assessments (e.g., seagrass, coral).
• Perform water quality (MMRO) and sediment quality sampling.
• Carry out turtle nesting and hatching surveys, video transects and SCUBA transects.
• Process infauna, plankton and HAB cyst samples, including microscopy, sorting, photography and statistical analysis.
• Drive and captain survey vessels, ensuring navigation, maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Maintain accurate records such as timesheets, vessel logs and laboratory documentation.

Required profile

• BSc in Biology, Zoology, Ecology or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in ecological field studies or research.
• Valid motor boat licence and boat licence.
• PADI or equivalent SCUBA accreditation.
