Estimation Engineer – Fire & Life Safety Systems

About the role

Prepares accurate estimates, quotations, BOQs, material take‑offs and technical‑commercial proposals for fire alarm, emergency lighting and voice evacuation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards and UAE Civil Defence requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and BOQs to prepare material take‑offs and detailed BOQs for fire alarm, emergency lighting and voice evacuation systems.
• Select compliant equipment and materials, calculate costs for equipment, installation, testing and commissioning, and develop quotations, compliance statements and tender clarifications.
• Coordinate with sales, design, engineering, procurement and project teams, identify discrepancies, exclusions and variations, and obtain supplier pricing and technical information.
• Prepare supplier comparisons, support negotiations, propose value‑engineering alternatives and update estimates for addenda or revised drawings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Communication Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–7 years of estimation experience in fire and life safety or ELV systems, preferably in UAE or GCC.
• Strong knowledge of BOQs, material take‑offs, costing, tender estimation and supplier negotiation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documents with attention to detail and meet multiple tender deadlines.

Required skills

• Fire alarm and detection systems (addressable and conventional).
• Emergency and exit lighting systems (central battery and self‑contained).
• Voice evacuation and public address systems.
• Integration with BMS, HVAC, access control, firefighting and ELV interfaces.
• Familiarity with NFPA 72, BS 5839, IEC standards and UAE Civil Defence regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and estimation/ERP software, including Excel costing tools.
