Ex‑Area Electrical Technician – Hazardous Equipment

About the role

Proserv is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician specialized in ex‑certified equipment for hazardous areas. The role involves installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of lighting, small power, heat tracing, telecommunications, fire & gas and instrumentation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Select, install, inspect, test and maintain ex‑certified electrical equipment in accordance with IEC 60079‑14, IEC 60079‑17 and IEC‑60079 series.
• Produce individual Ex‑inspection reports, compile equipment registers and defect lists.
• Gather daily progress reports and ensure target equipment numbers are met, especially when acting as lead inspector.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide field activities.
• Comply with client Permit to Work (PTW) systems, health and safety protocols, and complete mandatory training.
• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety discussions.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with hazardous‑area electrical installations, inspection and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 60079 standards and ex‑certified equipment.
