Executive Director, FX and Rates Trading

About the role

The Executive Director will lead the FX and rates trading desk for emerging‑market (non‑GCC/G10) activities, driving profitability while managing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role combines strategic oversight, client engagement, and mentorship of junior traders.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the business strategy and manage customer flow to exceed budget targets.
• Enhance the desk and Global Markets by expanding product offerings, improving processes, and mentoring junior staff.
• Support distribution channels, provide pricing, and work with sales colleagues to develop the client franchise.
• Accompany sales on customer visits and be available for client calls.
• Collaborate with quant teams to refine and calibrate pricing and valuation curves.
• Ensure pricing constructs and modelling are accurate and aligned with market best practice.
• Produce market commentaries and trade recommendations when required.
• Work closely with Risk teams to adapt mandates according to opportunities and FAB’s risk appetite.
• Foster internal synergies and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting.
• Lead and mentor junior staff, meeting financial and business objectives set by the Head.
• Maintain compliance with risk and counter‑party limits.
• Identify and analyse new product and regional opportunities.
• Develop and implement risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Provide swift, consistent pricing to internal and external customers.
• Expand counter‑party awareness of FAB capabilities to attract new flows and limits.
• Cultivate strong relationships with counterparties, brokers and other market participants.
• Adhere to Group Health & Safety procedures and governance frameworks.
• Operate within the approved authorization matrix.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking or Finance.
• Significant experience in FX and rates trading, preferably in emerging markets (non‑GCC/G10).
• Proven track record of delivering profitability while managing risk.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior traders.
• Strong understanding of pricing, valuation and risk‑management frameworks.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with counterparties and internal stakeholders.
