Executive Director, Head of Carbon Markets

About the role

First Abu Dhabi Bank’s Commodity trading desk is expanding its carbon markets franchise. The Executive Director, Head of Carbon Markets will lead the development of both compliance and voluntary carbon markets, strengthen the desk’s capabilities and generate P&L through expert trading and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and grow FAB’s carbon markets franchise across compliance and voluntary segments.
• Represent FAB in UAE carbon ecosystem working groups and build strong client and counter‑party relationships.
• Partner with sales, ESG and other product teams to create tailored carbon solutions for regional and global clients.
• Trade, price and risk‑manage carbon products, including ETS compliance programs and carbon offsets.
• Monitor desk risk limits, report daily positions and drive new revenue streams for the commodities business.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of commodity trading experience with a strong focus on carbon markets.
• Deep knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms and trading systems.
• Proven track record of managing commodity risk and generating P&L.
• Strong analytical background and ability to develop new product offerings.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with clients, counterparties and internal stakeholders.
