Factory Manager – Sheet Metal & Aluminium Enclosures

About the role

Our client, a leading switchgear manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Factory Manager to lead the production of high‑quality sheet‑metal and aluminium enclosures for electrical panel boards in Sharjah. The role combines production planning, shop‑floor control and hands‑on management, with at least 60 % of the time spent on the floor.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the master production schedule, allocating work against welding capacity and calculating delivery dates.
• Control work‑order release by verifying drawings, BOMs and material availability.
• Implement and maintain shop‑floor control tools such as job cards, visual boards and quality gates.
• Lead daily production meetings, produce weekly performance reports and manage material flow and stores.
• Build and coach a supervisory layer, setting performance targets for leadmen and team leaders.
• Ensure factory cost, safety, housekeeping and ISO 9001 compliance while meeting production targets.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering.
• 10–12 years of manufacturing experience in sheet‑metal/aluminium enclosure production, with at least 4 years managing a shop floor of 25+ staff.
• Proven ability to design and implement a production planning and control system from scratch.
• Experience in an engineer‑to‑order or make‑to‑order environment, preferably in switchgear or panel manufacturing.
• Fluent English with strong verbal communication.

Required skills

• AutoCAD / programming.
• CNC turret punch press, laser cutting, CNC bending.
• MIG, TIG and Argon welding for aluminium.
• Powder coating, tools and dies.
• Microsoft Excel, capacity modelling and standard time setting.
• Reading GA drawings, single‑line diagrams and Bills of Materials.
• ERP systems (ERPNext, SAP, Odoo) – desirable.
• Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints – desirable.
