Field Electrician – Catwalk & Bucking Unit

About the role

The Field Electrician will install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems on catwalks and bucking units used for tubular handling and make‑up operations. Working on‑site in Abu Dhabi, you will ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of power distribution, PLC, HMI and automation equipment, helping to minimise non‑productive time.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on catwalks and bucking units.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair PLC faults, including I/O modules and communication networks.
• Maintain and resolve issues on Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
• Diagnose and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for conveyors, rollers and rotation systems.
• Carry out electrical maintenance on motors, sensors, encoders, limit switches, solenoid valves, relays and control panels.
• Support torque‑turn system maintenance to ensure accurate make‑up and break‑out operations.
• Inspect, test and maintain electrical safety systems such as emergency stops, interlocks and protective devices.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and functional testing to pre‑empt failures.
• Perform fault finding on power distribution components including breakers, contactors, transformers and junction boxes.
• Read, interpret and update electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics.

Required profile

• Minimum 72 months (6 years) of relevant experience in electrical maintenance of catwalks and bucking units.
• Proven ability to work safely in an on‑site, oil‑and‑gas environment.
• Capability to read and update electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for diagnosing complex electrical faults.
