Field Engineer

About the role

The Field Engineer provides scheduled and on‑demand IT support across a cluster of up to four small sites in Abu Dhabi. This fully mobile position involves frequent travel and supports a service model covering 122 sites.

Key responsibilities

• Follow a published visit calendar, respond to Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents, and resolve service requests during site visits.
• Perform remote‑hands tasks on local server and network equipment under L2/L3 direction.
• Conduct server‑room checks, install, image, configure and de‑commission end‑user devices, printers, peripherals and classroom technology.
• Execute Active Directory tasks, first‑line network support, and maintain a mobile spares kit.
• Keep asset records, CMDB entries and site documentation up to date, and log all work accurately in the ITSM tool.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related field.
• CompTIA A+ or Microsoft fundamentals certification preferred; ITIL Foundation is an advantage.
• Experience supporting schools, universities or education‑sector IT estates is strongly preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic, valid UAE driving licence and clean police clearance.
• Strong self‑management, route‑planning skills and ability to work independently across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Windows 10/11 deployment, imaging and troubleshooting.
• Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 basic administration and health checks.
• Active Directory user/computer object management, password resets and group policy basics.
• Microsoft 365 end‑user support (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
• Backup operations monitoring and restore handling.
• Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, structured cabling, Wi‑Fi troubleshooting).
• Hardware break‑fix for Dell, HP, Lenovo desktops, laptops, thin clients, printers and scanners.
• Classroom technology support (interactive panels, projectors, document cameras, audio systems).
• ITSM ticket logging, categorisation and closure.
