Full-Time Open-Rank Faculty Positions in Media Communication

About the role

The Department of Media Communication at the American University of Sharjah seeks two full‑time, open‑rank faculty members to join its undergraduate and graduate programs starting Fall 2027. Candidates will contribute to a vibrant, American‑style learning environment and support the department’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Teach six courses per year (three per semester) across theory‑based and skills‑based subjects.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects.
• Participate in departmental committees and university service activities.
• Develop and maintain an active research or creative scholarship agenda.

Required profile

• Doctoral or equivalent terminal degree in media, communication studies, or a closely related field from an accredited, internationally recognized university.
• For Assistant Professor rank: evidence of an emerging research or creative scholarship agenda.
• For Associate or Full Professor rank: established record of scholarly publications or creative work, teaching excellence, and service.
• Commitment to teaching a diverse student body and ability to supervise graduate research.

Required skills

• Ability to teach courses in advertising and public relations, communication theory, journalism, media studies and production, research methods, social media, and related areas.
• Strong curriculum development and pedagogical skills for both undergraduate and graduate levels.
