General Manager O&M Wastewater Treatment Utilities

About the role

SEGULA Technologies, a global engineering group active in automotive, aerospace, energy, rail, naval, life sciences and telecoms, is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the operations and management of major wastewater treatment facilities in the UAE. The role provides strategic direction, operational leadership and overall management of wastewater treatment plant operations, ensuring business, contractual, financial and stakeholder objectives are met while keeping safety, efficiency, asset performance and service delivery at a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to functional and operational managers, and set objectives, targets and operational plans
• Develop and execute business and operational strategies, and formulate policies supporting contractual and business goals
• Manage resources, contracts and operational activities, and build strategic partnerships to optimise asset performance and lifecycle management
• Lead annual budgeting, financial planning and cost control; oversee financial, HR and O&M management
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, legislation and contracts, and promote continuous improvement
• Represent the organisation in high-level meetings, foster collaboration, coach managers and support employee development
• Ensure safe working practices, prepare management and operational reports, and organise senior management meetings

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline; recognised management or leadership qualification highly desirable
• Minimum 15 years of continuous professional experience in water, wastewater, utilities or industry, including at least 8 years in senior management
• Significant experience managing wastewater treatment plants and water infrastructure O&M, and managing budgets, contracts and multidisciplinary teams
• Demonstrated experience with clients, senior stakeholders and management committees, and in asset management and operational improvement
• Previous experience in the Middle East/GCC is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, asset management principles and lifecycle optimisation
• Excellent project management, commercial, financial and business management skills
• Strong understanding of HSE requirements in industrial settings
• Analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills; leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution
• Excellent written and spoken English, report writing and presentation skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and standard business productivity tools
