General Technician

About the role

The General Technician ensures the hotel’s physical infrastructure runs smoothly, handling maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs across guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house facilities. This role supports premium luxury standards by keeping HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and civil systems at peak efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on hotel assets, guest rooms and plant equipment.
• Service, clean and troubleshoot fan coil units, air handling units, exhaust systems and basic refrigeration units.
• Inspect, repair or replace light fixtures, control switches, power sockets, distribution boards and address minor circuit faults.
• Maintain domestic water supply, drainage pipes, pumps, water heaters and sanitary fixtures.
• Perform touch‑up painting, drywall repair, caulking, tiling, grouting and minor carpentry/furniture repairs.
• Respond promptly to reactive work orders from guests or other departments, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Follow safety protocols including LOTO, work‑at‑heights guidelines and use of PPE.
• Support routine testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting and backup generators.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or vocational certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Plumbing.
• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a 4‑ or 5‑star hotel or luxury commercial property.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills and conversational English.
• Physical ability to lift heavy items, climb ladders and work in tight spaces; flexibility to work rotating shifts.
