General Technician

About the role

The General Technician ensures the smooth operation of all hotel infrastructure, handling maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house facilities. This position supports the brand’s premium luxury standards by keeping HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and civil systems running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on hotel assets, guest rooms and plant equipment according to the engineering calendar.
• Service, clean and troubleshoot HVAC components such as fan coil units, air handling units, exhaust systems and basic refrigeration units.
• Inspect, repair or replace electrical fixtures, switches, sockets, distribution boards and resolve minor circuit faults safely.
• Maintain domestic water supply, drainage pipes, pumps, water heaters and sanitary fixtures in rooms and public restrooms.
• Perform civil and cosmetic work including touch‑up painting, drywall repair, tiling, grouting and minor carpentry or furniture repairs.
• Respond promptly to guest‑initiated work orders, conduct in‑room repairs with minimal disruption, and log shift handovers.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or vocational certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Plumbing.
• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a 4‑ or 5‑star hotel or luxury commercial property.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Physical capability to lift heavy items, work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights and public holidays.

Required skills

• HVAC maintenance (fan coil units, air handling units, basic refrigeration).
• Electrical troubleshooting and repairs (light fixtures, switches, sockets, distribution boards).
• Plumbing and drainage maintenance (water supply systems, pumps, water heaters, sanitary fixtures).
• Civil and cosmetic repair skills (painting, drywall, tiling, carpentry).
• Reading blueprints and wiring diagrams.
