Geological Technician

About the role

A Geological Technician is sought to support geoscience and engineering teams by managing, analyzing and visualizing geological and well data for hydrocarbon exploration, development and production. The role covers data management, quality control and data organization for the Gulf States Division.

Key responsibilities

• Daily manage large volumes of incoming data across multiple software platforms and departments
• Compile, quality-check and manage geological, geophysical and petrophysical data
• Load and maintain well logs, core data, mud logs and production data in geological software systems
• Prepare geological prognosis maps and offset well reviews to assist well planning
• Support reservoir characterization and prospect evaluation
• Digitize and georeference legacy maps and log data
• Maintain organized digital and physical geological records
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers and drilling teams
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with company and regulatory standards

Required profile

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related field (or equivalent technical experience)
• 2+ years of experience in oil and gas exploration or production (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and data management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Required skills

• Proficiency in geological software such as Petrel, Kingdom, Petra or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of geological data and their application
• GIS and mapping tools (a plus)
• Preferred: subsurface mapping and correlation, drilling operations and well planning workflows, reservoir properties and hydrocarbon systems, Excel and database management, interpretation and digitization of seismic or well data
