Field Service Engineer - Electrical Systems (Else UAE)

About the role

ABB (Electrification Services) is looking for Field Service Engineers to join its talent pool and support its growing service business across the UAE. The role is onsite and contributes to the Electrification in UAE, reporting to the Service Projects Lead Manager. You will support customers across industries through commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out commissioning, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and retrofit of electrical distribution and automation systems
• Perform on-site service work in line with ABB safety standards, customer requirements and project specifications
• Analyse system performance, identify faults and implement corrective actions
• Verify electrical installations, wiring, communication networks and system configurations during commissioning and service
• Maintain medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear systems
• Support FAT, SAT and system handovers
• Prepare technical reports, service documentation and customer sign-off documents after site visits
• Collaborate with project managers, service managers, engineering teams, contractors, consultants and end users
• Provide technical guidance and training to customers and colleagues when needed
• Build customer relationships and identify new service opportunities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in field service, commissioning, maintenance or testing of electrical power distribution systems
• Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear systems
• Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites across the region
• Preferred: experience with MV/LV switchgear (AIS, GIS, RMU, MCC, PCC), ABB MNS and MNS Digital, protection and motor management relays, communication networks, industrial protocols, power system commissioning, substation and industrial electrical installations

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical protection, control systems, relays, circuit breakers and power distribution equipment
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
• Understanding of site safety standards, permit-to-work processes and safe working practices
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
