Graduate Instrument & Control Engineer (UAE National)

About the role

Wood is seeking a UAE National graduate to join its Instrument & Control (I&C) engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role provides hands‑on experience in design, documentation and field activities across oil, gas and new energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support design tasks such as instrument selection, sizing, datasheet creation and control philosophy development.
• Develop and review I&C documentation including hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, instrument indexes, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and I/O lists.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Piping disciplines to ensure integrated project deliverables.
• Participate in site surveys, instrument inspections, loop checks and commissioning support.
• Apply standards (ISA, IEC, NEC, API) and assist with alarm rationalisation, SIL assessments and basic control logic under mentorship.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Basic understanding of instrumentation principles, sensors, PLC/DCS and automation concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Willingness to learn on the job, attend training modules and work in multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SPI/INtools for instrument data management.
• Experience using AutoCAD for drawing preparation.
• Fundamental knowledge of PLC/DCS configuration and loop diagram development.
• Familiarity with ISA, IEC, NEC and API standards.
• Skills in creating hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, instrument indexes and cause‑and‑effect diagrams.
