Head of Commercial Banking UAE

About the role

This senior position reports to the Head of Europe, Middle East & Africa for Commercial Banking and has a matrix reporting line to the UAE Chief Credit Officer. The role is responsible for managing and driving growth of Citi Commercial Banking (CCB) in the UAE, developing and executing the business strategy, and delivering sustainable, predictable earnings while ensuring an excellent client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a business strategy to achieve organic growth targets and increase market share in key segments.
• Own the client P&L for the UAE CCB business, overseeing revenues, expenses, capital allocation and operating efficiency.
• Build deep relationships with clients, local authorities and internal product, risk and operations teams.
• Set pricing policies, ensure credit portfolio quality and act as Senior Sponsoring Officer for large credit clients.
• Recruit, lead and develop a high‑performing team, establishing scorecards, KPIs and talent development plans.
• Collaborate closely with Markets, Treasury, Trade Solutions, Investment Banking and Corporate Banking to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in corporate or commercial banking, preferably with UAE market knowledge.
• Proven track record of managing a complex business with full P&L responsibility.
• Strong understanding of a wide range of banking products and credit risk management.
• Ability to create vision, motivate teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
