Head of Data - Banking

About the role

A leading bank in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Head of Data to lead its enterprise-wide data strategy, governance and management capabilities. This is a senior leadership position responsible for building a robust data framework, improving data quality and treating data as a strategic asset across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the bank's Data Office, overseeing data governance, data management, data quality and data strategy.
• Develop and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
• Drive data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data lineage and master data management initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations, data privacy requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Establish data quality controls, monitoring processes and reporting standards across business functions.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance and business leadership to improve data accessibility, integrity and use.
• Lead and develop a high-performing data governance and management team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data governance, data management and enterprise data strategy within banking or financial services.
• Proven leadership experience establishing or transforming a Data Office in a large, complex organisation.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders across business, technology, risk and compliance functions.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and organisational transformation capabilities.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of regulatory data requirements and data quality frameworks.
• Knowledge of industry best practices such as DAMA-DMBOK and DCAM.
