Head of East Africa

About the role

As the Head of East Africa you will develop and scale Taptap Send’s supply‑side partnerships across the region and grow the user base. You will own P&L for the market, lead growth tactics and act as the public face of the business in East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Establish a vision, strategy and execution plan for launching and scaling sending and receiving markets in East Africa.
• Drive adoption, improve profitability and increase brand awareness through creative growth initiatives.
• Report progress, insights and needs to the executive leadership team with a data‑driven, test‑and‑learn mindset.
• Build trust‑based relationships with diaspora communities and commercial partners to strengthen brand and unit economics.
• Collaborate closely with internal functions such as Customer Service, Finance, Tech, Legal, Compliance and People Ops.
• Own growth tactics across acquisition, retention, pricing, user research, product quality and customer experience.
• Lead, hire, inspire and develop the on‑ground growth team, ensuring aligned timelines and execution.
• Maintain stakeholder management across banks, regulators and disbursal partners, traveling internationally as needed.

Required profile

• Preference for a base in Nairobi, Dubai or London with ability to travel internationally.
• Keen interest in the East African diaspora and its financial needs.
• Advanced stakeholder‑management capability and experience leading multi‑regional teams.
• Understanding of East African financial regulatory landscape (advantageous).
• Strong analytical skills with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
• 7–15 years of experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments such as startups, consulting or finance.
• Outgoing, execution‑oriented, mission‑driven and highly organized.
• Proven ability to hire, develop and retain diverse talent.
