Head of English (Start Aug 2026)

About the role

GEMS Founders School in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, is seeking a Head of English to join the school from August 2026. This senior leadership position will guide the English department, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning in a British Schools Overseas accredited environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the English curriculum for secondary students.
• Mentor and support English teachers, promoting exemplary teaching practices.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align department goals with the school’s vision of Grow, Flourish & Achieve.
• Oversee assessment, reporting and continuous improvement processes.
• Contribute to extra‑curricular programmes and community events.

Required profile

• Embodies the core values of Grow, Flourish & Achieve.
• Bachelor’s degree in English or BEd with a PGCE in English.
• Proven experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with colleagues, students and parents.
• Demonstrated record of outstanding learning and teaching outcomes.
