Head of Performing Arts

About the role

Al Rabeeh Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Performing Arts to join its dynamic, high‑performing team from January 2027. The role leads the Performing Arts department, oversees teaching timetables for Key Stages 3‑5, and drives high standards of teaching, curriculum development and student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons aligned with the British curriculum and teach Performing Arts (Drama, Dance, Music) up to GCSE level, preferably A Level.
• Lead, inspire and manage the Performing Arts department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and student achievement.
• Develop and implement a clear vision for the department, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
• Plan, direct and oversee school productions, concerts, showcases and community events.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, facilities and specialist equipment.
• Support and develop team members through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
• Build positive relationships with parents and promote the profile of Performing Arts across the school and wider community.

Required profile

• Fluent English speaker with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject and PGCE/QTS (or equivalent).
• Experience teaching the English National Curriculum, preferably in an international setting.
• Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to student wellbeing.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
