Head of Physics

About the role

The Head of Physics will lead the Physics department at Yasmina British Academy, an outstanding English‑Curriculum school in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Principal, the role is responsible for driving academic excellence, overseeing curriculum delivery and fostering a culture of high performance aligned with the Academy’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Academy in achieving its strategic vision and improvement targets.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Academy policies.
• Implement the Performance Management Policy, set challenging annual targets and act as performance reviewer when required.
• Deliver and coordinate annual training linked to safeguarding, child protection and professional development.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment practices and teaching standards for I/GCSE and A‑Level Physics.
• Promote the use of learning technologies and maintain high standards of student achievement.

Required profile

• Demonstrated alignment with the Academy’s values of excellence, respect, passion, collaboration and creativity.
• Strong understanding of the cultural context and educational expectations of the UAE region.
• Proven leadership experience in a secondary‑school physics department.
