Head of Procurement – Marine Industry (Relocation Considered)

About the role

The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement function for ship repair, maintenance and shipbuilding projects. This senior position reports directly to the Managing Director and is responsible for delivering cost‑effective purchasing while upholding quality and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
• Oversee a team of buyers, analysts and support staff, ensuring effective task allocation and productivity.
• Establish and enforce procurement policies, procedures and best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, production leads and other departments to align procurement with project timelines.
• Evaluate supplier performance, manage relationships and mitigate supply‑chain risks.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors to secure optimal terms.
• Monitor procurement metrics, report savings, supplier performance and inventory management.
• Implement and manage procurement software and tools to streamline processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 84 months (7 years) of procurement experience, preferably in the marine or shipbuilding sector.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a procurement team.
• Strong understanding of procurement policies, compliance and risk management.
• Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Experience using data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of procurement software platforms.
